We’re still not really sure what Poe died of, but at least four of the above diseases have been cited as possible immediate causes of his death. Any time a doctor can look over your dead body and say, “Well, he might have died of heart disease, but then again it might have been rabies…” you can rest assured that you led a full life.
It is too bad that Peter isn’t around… he was, by all accounts, often present at the interrogation/torture of political prisoners and probably would have learned a thing or two. As to President Abraham Lincoln, the one thing that everybody who actually got to speak with him agree on is that he could, in the space of half an hour, manage to divert you from your original purpose and end up suggesting to him exactly what he wanted you to suggest without more on his part than a couple of anecdotes and a nod of the head. Apparently, some of that skill has been lost somewhere along the way…

Frederick Douglass is DONE … MESSING … AROUND. Tired of half-measures and displays of log-splotting machismo, he has hinted at the existence of something so utterly powerful and disturbing that the mere use of it might mean the end of all, you know, civilization-type-stuff. A weapon revealed! A dark, insane family’s sacred trust! This, AND a special appearance by Old Hickory in Episode 133: Take Me Back to New Orleans!

This comic was a mixed bag on my end. On one hand, it is mostly narration boxes which are really easy to layout. On the other, half the comic required that I think up color schemes for costumes and locations that we probably won’t be seeing again any time soon.
This is probably how The Count feels whenever I ask him to draw up a bunch of courtesans.

Andrew Jackson is a tough one to figure. Did he save America from plunging into tepid oligarchy, or destroy it by perfecting the Strut as a valid executive strategy? Of course, knowing that he was on the ball with saving us from whatever is in that box is a pretty big plus in his column…
