Somebody finally told Abe that he’s President. Grant is itching to get on with a new plan. And as I recall, the group isn’t entirely out from under the obligations laid upon them during their fantastic Poe-terrogation (Interr-poe-gation?) Today, the strategy that Must Win The War is unveiled, to come to its culmination in two short weeks! Can you honestly let yourself be the only person on your block who isn’t following it step by tactical step? Reflect on this and swing on by to Episode 146: A Promise Made is a Debt Unpaid!
– Geoff and The Count
It’s Kate! Haven’t seen you for a while, welcome back!
In other news, it’s totally my birthday today! The Countess’s too, for that matter… At any moment, the villagers will come bearing the best sheep and apple bushels of the season, and we shall in turn open our wine cellars for two hours before turning them back to their lives of quiet, gnawing desperation… Good times.
– Count Dolby von Luckner
Today’s title comes to us via Robert Service and my Alaskan high school education. The Cremation of Sam McGee is my favorite Service poem, at any rate.
So, there is this test one can run on their movies/books/webcomics called Episode 46 and it is a fail. Really, the whole Anne Boleyn arc was an attempt to get some ladies represented before we spent countless episodes in Civil War era America. Of course, seeing as how it boiled down to a cat fight between Anne and Catherine of Aragorn…
So, this is an issue that The Count and I think about. We wanted to put an awesome woman somewhere in our Civil War arc, and Kate Warne ended up fitting the bill.
I’m not sure exactly when we’ll pass the Bechdel test. Perhaps we need to introduce a distaff team of temporal explorers. Simone de Beauvoir can command a team consisting of Maria Theresa of Austria, Ada Lovelace, Catherine the Great, and Anne Bonny.
Actually, it is a pretty good bet that all these ladies will show up at some point or another.
