With Geoff’s computer on the ropes, who will the world turn to for its Tuesday entertainments? Why, to Abraham God Damn Lincoln, that’s who! While the Thoremerson raves and Frederick gets generally confused, Abe steps aside to tell us all a tale for the ages. It’s good clean fun over at FtG Presents: Storytime with Abe Lincoln!

Yes, the computer is still AWOL which pretty well hampers my abilities to work on Frederick.
Hopefully, it will be fixed soon.

So, while Geoff’s computer is being probed and interrogated somewhere in the depths of Palo Alto, we thought it’d be a good time to cozy up to our new pal Abe. But in the meantime…
BASEBALL SEASON!!
And with the arrival of baseball season comes the arrival of the new set of Topps trading cards. I have basically hated the way pretty much every set has looked since Upper Deck vomited forth its shiny but sterile and vacuous opening set back in 1989. I mean, sure, that set was The Shit when I was ten and all, but looking back on it, there is just nothing there (granted, Topps put out its ugliest set ever back in 90, so that probably helped). These are Baseball Cards, for the love of Nolan, not Atherton Quality Management Solutions business cards…
Anyway, I noticed the 2008 packs out at Target and picked one up with a feeling of vague terror and, to my surprise, they’re actually pretty cool. There’s still the We Could Perform Surgery On These Cards If We Had To white borders, but the big goofy lettering on top reminds me of the spirit of my favorite sets: the 59, 65, and 85 Topps, and that ain’t bad.

The Thoremerson has big plans to unveil, but first Frederick has to get around a rather major taxinomico-phenomological hurdle. But he’s pretty good at that, so this should get cleared up quickly, we figure. Stuck between Jeb Stuart on one side and the Thoremerson on the other, the boys hope for the best and, though they probably deserve a good deal less, might just well get it. Or will they? Answers await in Episode 114: A Frederick by any Other Name Would be Less Confusing!
