It was fun arranging various quotes from all four poets into a kind of argument. Especially one that, more or less, supported the (somewhat skewed) views of Transcendentalism and Anti-Transcendentalism we are presenting as the cornerstone of the respective two-headed poet-monsters.

JEB Stuart and Stonewall Jackson have pounced on Newton! The Thoremerson and Peter the Great are trading punches! The Flave has been punched out of Lincoln! Kate Warne is leading the Union countercharge! Things are just nuts all over! And one piece of the puzzle remains, to be put into place Right This Very Moment! The jigsaw comes together at last in Episode 164: Absurdly Monstrous!

Weird Al also parodied this song as “Here’s Johnny” about Ed McMahon.

So, my daughter and I were at Target and there was this copy of Short Circuit for $5 and, since she liked Wall-E and I am a whore for nostalgia, I picked it up. And it was good. But then Number 5 turns on the radio and, within 3 notes, I am jumping up on the couch, squealing and clapping my paws together. It’s this song, which I used to LOVE when I was 8, but had totally forgotten since and now, by a twist of Target sales policy, suddenly said, “Hello Count, how have you been?” after 20 years when it could just as easily have never revisited me again. Yes, the video is awful (though I would KILL to have that Steve Guttenberg cutout), but damn if those sorts of moments aren’t awesome.
