Ep 329 Dolby

Only four days left to bid on our Gulf Relief artwork! I am entirely amazed that it is going for as much as it is – but I would fully welcome being Even More Amazed by it going for Even More!
And so, we see that the bunny shirt man is, in fact, Boris Godunov, the only man that Ivan the Terrible kinda sorta would listen to during the latter part of his tsarship, and whose death brought on the Time of Troubles in Russian history. He was a witness to the tsar’s murdering of his own son, and the central figure in a kick-ass opera by Mussorgsky.
Oh, the subtleties of European Diplomacy – it’s been a while. As a matter of fact, later this week we will be celebrating exactly three and a half years of making this little adventure, which stuns me. All of you, thanks for reading and sending notes to us from time to time to fortify our spirits, it means everything, truly.

Our Gulf Relief piece is still up for auction!! The pelicans are calling! Our sense of self-worth is directly tied to how much this guy ends up going for, so drag out the Victorian coin purses and let them flow!!
As to the comic, our Frederick’s grandfather, Frederick I (whose hair alone took about an hour and twenty minutes in inking between panels 1 and 4 – I’m really slow) was an unabashed Louis XIV impersonator who had as Queen one of the awesomest women in Prussian history, Sophia Charlotte.
We’ve talked in depth about Frederick’s father before, and his words here are most likely wishful thinking on my part – a hope within me that he wasn’t as entirely led by the nose his whole life as he appears in all accounts.
So, it is down to the Netherlands and Spain… I feel the force of history demanding a win for the Netherlands to make up for the decades and decades that Spain spent invading their nation and covertly assassinating their leadership. I think a World Cup victory would even everybody up again, right?

First and foremost, the auction for the piece we’ve contributed to the Webcomics Auction for the Gulf Coast goes begins WEDNESDAY! We wrote and drew this piece up especially for this auction – there is only one in the entire whole wide world! It’s for a good cause AND you get a swanky bit of Frederickobilia to put on your wall! Here’s the piece itself!

In non-auction related news, John George was actually Frederick’s Great-Great-Great-Great-Great Grandfather, but after a certain point you just lose count. Our Frederick was the son of the Soldier King Frederick William, himself the son of the Louis XIV impersonator Frederick I, son of the Great Elector, son of George William, son of John Sigismund, son of Joachim III, son of JOHN GEORGE!!
